Impressions from Buenos Aires

Impressions from Buenos Aires

The energy of Buenos Aires is fascinating. More than thirteen million people live there, ten times more than in Montevideo, resulting in a very colorful and vibrant city. Every corner offers something new to discover or explore. It's also fast, hectic, loud and the traffic is deadly. Avenida 9 de Julio counts 14 lanes, seven for each direction, and not considered the four bus lanes in the middle and the streets running in parallel. BA lets you choose from a lot of different neighborhoods, some very glittery and pretty, like Palermo, Recoleta, Retiro or Belgrano, others working class dominated, like San Telmo and La Boca. BA has the nickname Paris of South America, this is due to the fact that most Porteños, that's how the inhabitants of BA call themselves, were immigrants from Europe, and they tried to copy all different kind of aspects from Europe to perfection (architecture, theater, footbal, and so on). The only negative and shocking aspect is the still existing poverty in some areas, especially near the bus terminal in Retiro and South of the city if you leave by train to La Plata.

But there are not enough words to describe the city, therefore I let pictures speak.
