Impressions from La Plata
La Plata (Spanish for "the silver") lies approximately 50 kilometers south-east of Buenos Aires and is the capitol of the province Buenos Aires. It's the home of two important football clubs, Estudiantes de La Plata and Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, and is, in contrast to the capitol of the country, very relaxed and chilled out. The city follows a strict checkerboard pattern and was designed by Pedro Benoit. It can be reached easily by train or bus from BA and offers various museums, cafés, restaurants and the tallest cathedral in South America, the Catedral de La Plata.
